Blog #7: Color in Film

Blue is a color associated with friendliness, peace, and sincerity. Red symbolizes danger, desire, and determination. Martin’s room will be lit by the TV as well as an LED string on his wall. This string can be manipulated to be a variety of different colors. The setting will mostly be dark/dim, but I plan on keeping the beginning of the opening blue in order to personal/peaceful mood as Martin and Camille converse about their plans for spring break and play chess. As the conversation progresses, I’ll slowly manipulate the LED to transition into red. This not only creates a sense of unease, it’ll help make sense to the viewer that the whole conversation was part of Martin’s dream when he wakes up as the lighting seemingly changed on its own. Camille will be wearing a red top that symbolizes her power/confidence that will contrast with Martin’s timid nature
